Background
Netball is a non-contact, fast-moving, dynamic sport made up of passing a ball and shooting the ball into a hoop. Once the player has caught the ball, they cannot run or dribble with it and have three seconds to pass or shoot, depending on where they are on the court.
With this in mind, certain fundamental motor skills need to be optimally developed at a young age to ensure that players cement the basics of the sport in order to excel.
StellenSport (Pty) Ltd has employed the knowledge of Ms. Sandra Du Plessis and Ms. Freda Kemp to develop an age-specific curriculum for netball that can be used by novice and seasoned coaches to assist them in cementing the basics of netball from age 6 all the way to senior netball.
It is with great excitement that we have finalized the primary school curriculum which consists of the following:
Group 1: Pre-basic skills: Age U6 – U7
Group 2: Age U8 – U9
Group 3: Age U10 – U11
Group 4: Age U12 –U13

Planning Summary (based on 1) see attachment
12 lesson plans per age group based on 2 (not attached)
The curriculum will provide coaches 12 lesson plans per age group which will serve as a guide for the development of coaches and players. Coaches and players will be equipped with logical progression steps as well as sound physical and technical methods for the skills relevant to the needs of the players.
The objectives of the training sessions include the basic holistic long-term development of players as well as positive, creative, and enjoyable learning opportunities for players.
